Does your son need the swimming or first aid merit badge?
A swimming and separate first aid merit badge class is being out together. There is room for 35 scouts with no more than six from out troop.
Scouts need to be able to swim 50 yards any style without becoming totally exhausted.
Classes will start January 9, 2015 on Fridays from 7 to 9 PM and will finish by May 15. It will take 12-14 sessions and there will be some (not a lot) of make up time. Scouts should plan on attending all classes.
To complete the class scouts must satisfactorily demonstrate these skills.
Location for the swimming class: Monroe Middle School, 5105 Bedford Avenue. Plan to swim promptly at 7 and be picked up promptly at 9. Bring a suit, towel and no valuables.
Cost: only $10 per person.
First Aid will be on Saturday, location to be determined.
Most importantly: each troop must provide at least one adult per session to assist. They do not need to swim but may get splashed. They do not need to know the skills.
Since this class is on a first-come, first-serve basis I urge you to act quickly if your son needs this. Contact Tim Begley for more information at tpbegley@cox.net for even more information.
Yours in Scouting,
Tim Begley
