21 merit badges must be earned to qualify for Eagle Scout.
The following 11 badges are mandatory:
- First Aid
- Citizenship in the Community
- Citizenship in the Nation
- Citizenship in the World
- Communications
- Cooking
- Environmental Science
- Personal Fitness
- Personal Management
- Camping
- Family Life
In addition, a Scout has a choice between the following for a total of 13 Eagle required merit badges,
- Emergency Preparedness or Lifesaving and a choice among
- Cycling, Hiking, and Swimming
Note: You can do all five of above if you wish.

Camp Cedars Merit Badges:
Each year at Camp Cedars summer camp, your scout can earn 5 or more merit badges during the week.
TB: Trailblazer, SW Iowa Merit Badge College (Council Bluffs, IA): Offer over 2 dozen merit badges over an 8hr period on one Saturday in November. Your scout can earn 2 Merit Badges in one day.

WE: War Eagle, Merit Badge College (Souix City, IA): The War Eagle Merit Badge College is a full day of advancement opportunities for Boy Scouts with over 30 merit badges to choose from and leader training for adult volunteers! The first 400 youth registered will receive the patch!
